Pain and Palliative Care Coordinator

Jody is the Coordinator of Pain and Palliative Care for Children's Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota, the largest Pediatric organization in the Upper Midwest. Children's Pain and Palliative Care is part of the homecare department, providing services to children facing life threatening conditions, and their families. The services are provided at home or where ever the child is receiving care. "Jody" was born and brought up in India, trained and worked as a nurse and midwife in Scotland and India. Her multicultural background has a strong influence in her daily work. During her career she has worked in a variety of settings, from birth to death and in-between. She was a midwife in Scotland and began her hospice career soon after moving to the USA. She has worked with adults and children in both home and hospital settings. She gained experience with children from 5-18 years of age while working in India as a school nurse and counselor. Her current areas of responsibility include program development and coordination of staff  in the home based and  out state programs. is a co-founder of Children's Institute for Palliative Care, the educational arm of Children's Pain and Palliative services, and the first federally funded pilot education project for pediatric palliative care. It services the five state upper Midwest regions.  Jody is on the board of directors for the Minnnesota Network of Hospice and Palliative care and  the Hospice and Pallaitive Care Nurses Association. She is the  Chair of the Minnesota Pediatric Palliative Care Coalition. , The International Association for Hospice and Palliative Care and the National Honor Society for Nursing (Sigma Theta Tau). She has published and presented nationally and internationally on issues of Pediatric palliative care.
