June accomplished her RWJ project of establishing a children's hospital (within a hospital) in Colorado Springs for the children of southern Colorado. June has had the privilege of caring for children and their families and influencing clinical practices in her numerous nursing roles for over 36 years.

After obtaining a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, in 1976, from Point Loma College, June worked in various clinical roles in Neonatal Intensive Care Units (NICU) in the San Francisco Bay Area. After obtaining her MSN from the University of California at San Francisco, June worked as the Clinical Nurse Specialists at the NICU at The Children's Hospital of The King's Daughters in Norfolk, Virginia. This gave her the opportunity to collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to implement best clinical practices. Realizing the critical importance of the business of healthcare, June pursued a Master of Science in Administration from Central Michigan University. This was a pivotal time in June's career, when her influence transitioned from the clinical realm to that of administrative influence.  In the role of Administrative Director for Professional Practice, Research and Education, June facilitated quality initiatives through education and mentorships. Relocating back to Colorado Springs in 1996, in her role of CNS in Community Health Programs and Home Care at The Children's Hospital, Denver, June had the privilege of launching several innovative home care programs for high-risk newborns and children. In 1999, June resumed her administrative focus as Director of Maternal Child Services at Memorial Hospital and Vice President for Memorial Hospital for Children.

Throughout June's career, she has been engaged in formal nursing education to support the nursing workforce. As an adjunct faculty member at Old Dominion University, she developed, coordinated and taught the Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP) Master of Science Program and taught pediatric courses. She is currently Adjunct Professor at American Sentinel University, teaching Healthcare Strategic Management and Planning to graduate nursing students.
